Some of the most meaningful dog portraits are created in the places that already hold so much of your life together. The end of the sofa they have claimed as their own. A favourite window. The kitchen they appear in the moment a cupboard opens. The garden path they have walked thousands of times. At home, those familiar details become part of the portrait. I work primarily with the natural light, rooms and little rituals that already belong to your dog, bringing additional professional lighting when it will help, particularly on darker winter days or for sessions later in the day.
The result is photography that still feels intimate, individual and deeply connected to the life you share.
An at home portrait does not need a practical reason. It can simply be the setting that feels most personal.
For puppies, older dogs, nervous or reactive dogs, familiar surroundings can also offer something particularly valuable: the freedom to work around their own routines, confidence and pace.
AT THEIR OWN PACE
Their Comfort Comes First
Before dog photography became my profession, I spent several years volunteering with rescue dogs and getting to know hundreds of dogs with very different personalities, histories and ways of responding to the world. That experience still shapes the way I work today. I never expect two dogs to behave in exactly the same way, and I am always happy to give them the time and space they need to become comfortable with me. At home, familiar surroundings can be especially lovely for nervous or reactive dogs, senior dogs and dogs with limited mobility. Everything can unfold around the places and routines they already know, with time to pause, rest or simply settle back into their favourite spot whenever they need to. It can also be such a special way to photograph a new puppy during those first precious weeks at home. Before the world gets bigger, before the first proper walks and before they grow into the dog they are becoming, there are all those tiny beginnings: discovering favourite corners, falling asleep in unlikely places, following you from room to room and taking their first little steps into family life. Photographing those early days safely at home, including before they are ready for public walks, can preserve a chapter that changes remarkably quickly. I follow their pace and let the session develop around them, allowing all those little expressions, habits and pieces of personality to appear naturally.

Where You Stay Becomes Part of the Story
If you are visiting London with your dog, a private dog portrait session can take place in the hotel, suite, penthouse or private residence where you are staying.
There is something lovely about photographing a dog within the little world that has become theirs for a few days. The chair they have already decided belongs to them. Watching London through the window. Padding across the suite in search of breakfast. Curling up beside you after a day exploring the city.
The hotel itself can become part of that story too. We might begin in your room or suite, wander through a beautiful part of the hotel, include an afternoon tea or terrace moment, then step outside for portraits somewhere nearby that has become part of your time in London.
I shape the session around your dog, the light and the character of the setting, so the photographs feel connected to the experience you are having together rather than simply being taken in a beautiful place.
If the hotel requires permission for professional photography, we can discuss what may be needed and make sure everything is considered before the session.

That might be the garden where they spend their mornings, the street they know by heart, a favourite local park, the café where they always expect a treat, or the familiar walk you have shared hundreds of times.
We can begin indoors and let the session unfold from there, moving into the places that already feel familiar and meaningful to both of you. Home, the neighbourhood and those little everyday rituals can all become part of the same collection of photographs.
For dogs who are happiest around places they know, this brings together the comfort of home with the freedom to explore the corners of their world they already love.

Before We Meet
We begin with a conversation about your beloved pup, their personality, the things they love and anything you would like me to understand before we meet.
We can also talk about how you would love the photographs to feel, whether you are drawn to something intimate and natural, centred around the little moments you share, or a more considered fine art portrait with a stronger sense of composition, light and place.
For an at home or hotel session, I may ask you to send a few photographs of the spaces beforehand. It helps me begin thinking about the light, the rooms we might use and the possibilities within them, shaping the session around your dog, your surroundings and the photographs you would most love to create.
While We Are Together
We begin wherever your dog feels happiest and whenever they feel ready, letting the session grow naturally from there, following their personality, curiosity and the little moments that make them who they are.
We might move between favourite rooms, step into the garden, wander to a familiar café or take the walk you know by heart. There is always room for a cuddle, a snack, a little rest or simply time to enjoy being together while the photographs unfold around you.
The pace belongs to your dog, giving us the freedom to create photographs that feel natural, personal and entirely true to them.
When Your Portraits Are Ready
Afterwards, your private gallery remains available for one month, giving you time to revisit the collection and make your final choices with care. Fine art prints, framed artwork and handcrafted albums can be commissioned from your chosen portraits, with digital files also available to purchase for the images you would like to keep and share.
