Tails in Bloom

Chelsea

An annual fine-art dog photography experience in Chelsea, London, bringing together portraiture, bespoke floral design and fundraising for dogs still waiting for safety, love and a family of their own.

Created by Andrew Raven · Chelsea, London · Since 2024

Where portraiture blooms into purpose

Created in Chelsea in 2024 during Chelsea in Bloom, Tails in Bloom brings together fine-art dog photography, floral design and fundraising, celebrating much-loved dogs while helping more little souls move towards healthier, safer and happier lives.

The inaugural Tails in Bloom took place during Chelsea in Bloom at Love My Human on the King’s Road, with one-of-a-kind living floral creations by Neill Strain Floral Couture and fundraising in support of Soi Dog Foundation. Together with my contribution to the international Tails of the World project that year, the fundraising helped support the sterilisation and vaccination of approximately 130 dogs.

In 2026, Tails in Bloom returned to Chelsea inside the Mirror Room at 11 Cadogan Gardens, where Arcade Flowerscreated bespoke botanical pieces individually for the dogs being photographed, with the edition supporting Harbin SHS Animal Rescue.

Each edition is intentionally intimate, giving every dog time to settle, explore and simply be themselves. The flowers, styling and surroundings are thoughtfully considered around the individual little soul in front of me and the personality their people know so well.

What began as one idea has grown into an annual project I am incredibly grateful to see continue, bringing together dogs, their families, florists, designers, friends and creative collaborators, and allowing something beautiful created in Chelsea to carry kindness much further.

A portrait experience created around them

Every Tails in Bloom experience takes its rhythm from the dog in front of me. There is time to explore the room, meet everyone, settle into the surroundings and allow their confidence and curiosity to lead us into the photographs. That might mean wandering for a while, pausing for a cuddle, revisiting an idea after an important treat negotiation or following a completely unexpected moment because that is where their personality has taken us. Those little decisions are often where the photographs begin to feel most like them.

The floral design follows the same thought. Colour, scale, texture and character are considered around each dog, creating something beautifully individual while allowing their own presence to remain at the heart of the portrait. The finished photograph becomes a lasting record of the little soul who was there that day, filled with the expressions and character their people recognise instantly.

Beautiful portraits with a purpose

Tails in Bloom celebrates the extraordinary love people share with their dogs and allows that love to reach further.

Funds raised through the project have supported sterilisation and vaccination programmes, alongside animal rescue organisations helping dogs move towards safety, care and loving homes. That combination of preventative welfare and direct rescue has become an important part of what Tails in Bloom can make possible.

Every dog who joins me brings a story already filled with familiar expressions, favourite habits, tiny quirks and a bond that belongs entirely to them and their people. Through Tails in Bloom, celebrating that relationship also creates an opportunity to help more dogs experience the care and security every little soul deserves.

I am deeply grateful to everyone who has trusted me with their dog, supported the fundraising, shared the project or brought their creativity to it. Their generosity is what allows Tails in Bloom to keep growing and helping more little souls.

What blooms next

Future Tails in Bloom editions will continue to bring together fine-art dog portraiture, floral design, creative collaboration and fundraising in Chelsea, with each year bringing its own setting, creative partners and cause to support.

New dates will be shared first through the Raven Imagery mailing list.

"Tails in Bloom is an invitation to celebrate your little soul as they truly are: extraordinary.

Created amongst flowers, held in a portrait and cherished long after the blooms have faded.

A lasting legacy of a love like no other.”

THE CAUSE

Love, carried further

Every Tails in Bloom edition supports animal rescue and welfare, helping fund sterilisation and vaccination programmes alongside organisations working to bring more dogs towards safety, care and loving homes.

Each portrait begins with one deeply loved dog in Chelsea and becomes part of something reaching further, carrying that love into meaningful support for more little souls.

I am immensely grateful to every family, friend and creative partner who becomes part of Tails in Bloom. Together, each photograph helps the project continue growing, giving more dogs the chance to experience the love being celebrated in front of my camera.

THE ARCHIVE WARDROBE

A curated collection of beautifully considered pieces created with friends of Tails in Bloom, bringing another layer of character, craftsmanship and playfulness to the portraits while sharing a love of dogs and giving back.

CHARMS FOR CHARITY

Charms for Charity was a passion project between three friends who shared the same love: dogs, creativity and giving back. Offering handcrafted dog accessories, each piece was created with love, intention and meaning, with all proceeds supporting animal welfare charities.

For Tails in Bloom 2026 in Chelsea, they offered bespoke faux-pearl and chain necklaces for dogs (they fit cats too!) as a memento of the day. There was a wide variety of charms to choose from, including stars, moons and planets in keeping with the Chelsea in Bloom “Out of this World” theme that year.

MICHELLE POWELL DESIGNS

Michelle Powell Designs was a creative venture alongside her full-time freelance work, born from a love of thoughtful design and, of course, dogs. What started with handcrafted bow ties had evolved into her newest pieces: statement ruffles. Each design was carefully considered, with a focus on quality, style and those little details that make something feel truly special.

For Tails in Bloom 2026 in Chelsea, Michelle introduced a Breakfast at Tiffany’s-inspired collection: timeless, playful and designed to pair beautifully with Charms for Charity. She created a curated collection of designer dog ruffles that captured a sense of timeless elegance with a playful twist.

All in celebration of dogs and in support of animal welfare charities.
